OBU and ELS on-board devices
OBU (On Board Unit)
The OBU is a Global Navigation Satellite Systems GNSS-class locator device that transmits geolocation data to the e-TOLL system via data transmission.By selecting OBU you gain compactness, mobility, and the ability to move the device among vehicles. You can easily install the set yourself, without interfering with the interior of the vehicle.
ELS (External Localization System)
The ELS is a device permanently installed in the vehicle by the ELS operator. I sends geolocation data to the e-TOLL system via data transmission.
Select device
- check the list of OBU/ELS operators and devices approved for the e-TOLL system (the list can be found in the Downloads section below),
- purchase the device together with the subscription at a selected Customer Service Facility (MOK) of the e-TOLL network or from the OBU/ELS operator. Each device has its own unique business number,
- if you select an OBU, please read the user manual and instructions attached to the OBU before its installation.
Register the device in e-TOLL
- register the device in the e-TOLL system in your Online Customer Account (OCA),
- assign the device to a vehicle,
- activate the device.
You can do this quickly and efficiently through OCA or at MOK.
Recommendations for the use of On Board Unit and External Localization System devices
The On Board Unit/External Localization System devices are used for the automatic transmission of geolocation data for vehicles on toll road journeys. They operate using satellite location and help register toll journeys.
