On-Board Units (OBU)

An on-board unit (OBU) is a GNSS class locator that sends geolocation data to e-TOLL through data transmission.

By choosing an OBU, you gain compactness, mobility and the ability to move the device between vehicles. You can install the set yourself easily, without interfering with the interior of the vehicle.

For more information on device selection, contact the e-TOLL Customer Service Facility (MOK) or an OBU operator.

Select an OBU device

  • check the list of OBU operators and OBUs approved for e-TOLL (the list can be found in the Materials to download section below),
  • purchase the device with its unique business number and a subscription for geolocation data transmission at the selected e-TOLL Customer Service Facility (MOK) or from the selected OBU operator,
  • prior to installation, read the user manual and instructions attached to the given OBU type.

Register the device in the e-TOLL system

  • register the device in the e-TOLL system,
  • assign the device to a vehicle,
  • activate the device.

You can do that quickly and easily via Online Customer Account or at a Customer Service Facility (MOK).

User obligations

  • check the validity of the purchased subscription (applies to devices under subscription, Note! Not every device is subject to a subscription check the details with your operator):
    • contact your operator to extend the subscription before it expires;
    • if you fail to renew the subscription, the geolocation data will not be sent to the e-TOLL system and tolls won’t be calculated; in this case you will be exposed to the consequences of failure to pay tolls for driving on toll roads
    • if you fail to renew the subscription, the operator may unregister your device, which will cause it to be automatically removed from the e-TOLL system.
  • contact your operator if:
    • your OBU device (including its SIM card) has suffered a technical failure or mechanical damage;

The Ministry of Finance and the National Fiscal Administration shall not be held liable for failures and technical problems of devices for transmitting geolocation data to the e-TOLL system.

  • contact e-TOLL helpline if:
    • you have questions about: using your settlement account, tolls, settlement account balance, device registration and activation on the Online Customer Account;
    • your device lost connection to the e-TOLL.
