OBU and ELS on-board devices

OBU (On Board Unit)

The OBU is a GNSS-class locator device that transmits geolocation data to the e-TOLL system via data transmission.By selecting OBU you gain compactness, mobility, and the ability to move the device among vehicles. You can easily install the set yourself, without interfering with the interior of the vehicle.

ELS (External Localization System)

The ELS is a device permanently installed in the vehicle by the ELS operator. I sends geolocation data to the e-TOLL system via data transmission.

Select device

  • check the list of OBU/ELS operators and devices approved for the e-TOLL system (the list can be found in the Downloads section below),
  • purchase the device together with the subscription at a selected Customer Service Facility (MOK) of the e-TOLL network or from the OBU/ELS operator. Each device has its own unique business number,
  • if you select an OBU, please read the user manual and instructions attached to the OBU before its installation.

Register the device in e-TOLL

  • register the device in the e-TOLL system in your Online Customer Account (OCA),
  • assign the device to a vehicle,
  • activate the device.

You can do this quickly and efficiently through OCA or at MOK.

User’s obligations

Check the validity of your subscription (applies to devices covered by the subscription):

  • contact your operator before your subscription expires to renew it,
  • if the subscription is not renewed, the OBU/ELS will not send geolocation data to the e-TOLL system and no toll will be charged, thereby exposing you to the consequences of not paying the toll;
  • failure to renew your subscription may also result in de-registration of the device by the OBU/ELSoperator, which will automatically deactivate and remove the device from the e-TOLL system and your OCA account.

Contact the operator when:

  • the OBU/ELSdevice you have (including the SIM card) has suffered a technical failure or mechanical damage.

Contact the e-TOLL Helpline when:

  • you have questions about: handling the billing account, payments, billing account balance, device registration and activation in the Online Customer Account;
  • your device has lost communication with e-TOLL.
